Volkswagen India has finally commenced deliveries of its newly-launched flagship SUVW – Tiguan facelift. Mr. Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India has revealed that the SUV has been sold out for Q1, 2022. It’s available across the brand’s 150 sales touchpoints. The company is offering 4EVER Care as standard peace of mind package with the SUV. The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan, which is being assembled locally at VW’s Aurangabad facility, has been offered in a single Elegence trim. This fully-loaded variant has been priced at Rs 31.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
For power, the new Tiguan facelift uses a 2.0L, 4-cylinder TSI turbocharged petrol engine that makes power worth 190bhp and 320Nm of torque. The motor comes with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox delivering power to all four wheels via VW’s 4MOTION AWD (all-wheel drive) system. With the midlife update, the SUV model lineup has dripped the 143bhp, 2.0L TDI turbo diesel engine.
Significant changes have been made to the new 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan facelift. The SUV features new, sharply designed headlamps, a new front grille, revised front bumper, new 18-inch alloy wheels, taillamps with new LED elements and slightly tweaked rear bumper. While its interior layout remains unchanged, the updated model gets a touchscreen climate control system and VW’s new steering.
Talking about Volkswagen India’s future plan, the German automaker is planning to introduce the VW Virtus mid-size sedan in early March 2022. Its India launch will take place in the third week of May 2022. Here, it will come as a replacement to the ageing VW Vento. It will be designed on the MQB A0-IN platform and come with the 1.0L and 1.5L TSI petrol engines. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer. The same powertrains do duty in the upcoming Skoda Slavia that’s due for March 2022. Both models will share platform, powertrains and several components, but look different and a slightly different set of features.
