The Japanese automaker today unveiled the all-new Honda RS SUV concept at the 2021 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show. It’s a 5-seater mid-size SUV concept that might debut in its production avatar in coming months. While Indonesia will be the first market to witness its launch, there is no official word on its India launch. Even if India is on launch radar, the new Honda SUV will face challenge from cars like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.

Painted in White paint scheme, the Honda RS concept SUV measures around 4.2 meters in length. The model carries a new grille, angular wraparound headlamps (inspired by new BR-V), a faux skid plate, neatly designed bumper with a wide airdam and fog lamps with vertical slats at the front end. The tapering roofline gives it a coupe SUV like looks.
One can notice the sporty black cladding on the lower doors and wheel arches that house matte black alloy wheels. Design bits such as contrast roof, angular tailgate, slim horizontally positioned LED taillamps which are connected via a faux light strip and rear bumper featuring license plate add more to its sporty appearance.

New Honda SUV Engine
Engine details of the Honda RS SUV concept are still under the wraps. If reports are to be believed, its final version will borrow powertrains from the global-spec City sedan. The latter one comes with the 1.5L petrol and 1.5L petrol with Honda’s e:HEV mild hybrid technology.
The 1.5L, 4-cylinder i-VTEC naturally-aspirated gasoline motor makes a top power of 121bhp and 145Nm of torque. It can be had with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic transmission. The upcoming Honda City Hybrid will feature the same 1.5L petrol unit with Honda’s e:HEV hybrid system.
