Volkswagen Taigun Reaches Dealership; Bookings Open Soon

Volkswagen Taigun mid-size SUV has started arriving at dealerships across the country. The model that made its debut in concept avatar at the last year’s Auto Expo, is ready to hit roads in the month of September. Its official bookings will begin in coming weeks and production is scheduled to start on 18th August 2021. The VW Taigun will mark debut of the brand’s new logo and underpins the heavily localized MQB A0 IN platform that’s already used in the Soda’s Kushaq SUV. It will be one of the new models to roll out under Volkswagen Group’s INDIA 2.0 project.

Upfront, the new Volkswagen SUV will feature a dual-slat chrome grille, dual-lens projector headlamps and horizontally placed LED DRLs. The chrome surround fog lamps, bumper with chrome inserts on the lower part and contrast coloured skid plate further enhance its sporty front look. It comes fitted with 17-inch, dual-tone alloy wheels along with bold shoulders, a shark fin antenna and silver roof rails. At the back, the new Volkswagen SUV features bumper with chrome accent and LED taillamps running across the width of the tailgate.

Similar to its sibling – Skoda Kushaq, the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun will offer a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with latest smartphone connectivity and My Volkswagen connect app. The list of features will also include a fully digital instrument cluster, wireless charging pad, a sunroof, automatic climate control, USB Type C-ports, ventilated front seats, engine start/stop button and more. For the safety provision, the new Volkswagen SUV will offer multiple airbags, Isofix child seat mounts, tyre pressure deflation warning and more. Engine setup of the Volkswagen Taigun will be similar to the Kushaq. There will be two turbo petrol engine options – 1.0L, 3-cylinder and 1.5L, 4-cylinder – making 115bhp with 175Nm and 150bhp with 250Nm. A 6-speed manual gearbox will be standard across the SUV model lineup. While the smaller capacity petrol motor will be exclusively offered with a a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, the 1.5L petrol unit will get a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission.
