Volkswagen Taigun Exterior, Interior Features & Details

Volkswagen has announced its new SUV line-up, which comprises of the T-ROC, Tiguan AllSpace, Tiguan 5-seater and the Taigun mid-sized. The VW Taigun is the locally developed mid-sized SUV, which will be positioned against the likes of the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Volkswagen Taigun GT Line Specs

The SUV was first previewed as the pre-production Taigun concept at the 2020 Auto Expo. The SUV retains the design of the concept, featuring a prominent front grille with chrome applique, new Volkswagen logo at the centre of the grille, LED headlamps with LED DRL (Daytime Running Lamp), 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and LED tail-lamps with a connected bar. The top-spec variant will be called the VW Taigun GT Line.

Volkswagen Taigun GT Line

– The new Volkswagen Taigun is based on the MQB AO IN platform, which also underpins the Skoda Kushaq. The company claims that the SUV will have close to 95% of localisation levels. 

– The new Volkswagen Taigun has a wheelbase of 2,651mm, which is longer than the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos – 2,610mm. In fact, the wheelbase is 15mm longer than the Jeep Compass (2,636mm).

– It will be offered with two petrol engine options – a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol with 6MT & 6AT, and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged with 7-speed DSG automatic.

– While the former is good for 114bhp of power and 175Nm of torque, the 1.5L turbo engine churns out a maximum power output of 147bhp and a peak torque of 250Nm of torque.
