Upcoming Tata HBX Mini SUV – New Design Details Emerge

Tata Motors is planning to expand its SUV portfolio with two new models – Gravitas and HBX concept based SUV. While the former will come in 6 and 7-seats layout, the latter one will be a mini SUV to challenge the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso. We have seen both models (of-course camouflaged) in multiple spy pictures. Though, the latest set of spy images reveals some interesting design details.

The upcoming Tata HBX mini SUV will carry split headlamps with the main cluster lower down on the bumper, Tata’s ‘Humanity Line’ front grille, LED DRLs and the signature tri-arrow design on the air dam at the front end. Similar to its concept that broke cover at this year’s Auto Expo, the production-ready version of the new Tata mini SUV will sport upright stance with square-ish wheel arches and prominent belt-line.

At the rear, the model will feature a raked rear windscreen, pronounced crease parting the tailgate and compact LED taillamps. Pratap Bose, Vice President of Global Design at Tata Motors, had revealed that that the production model of the Tata HBX will stay true (around 95%) to its concept. The HBX concept based mini SUV will be Tata’s second production model to underpin the new Alfa (Agile, Light, Flexible, Advanced) platform. The brand’s new architecture supports multiple powertrains, and body styles including hatchbacks, sedans and SUVs. The HBX’s length, width and height are likely to measure 3840mm in length, 1822mm in width and 1635mm in height. That said, it will be roughly the size of the Maruti Suzuki Swift. Though, the former will be wider and taller.
