Upcoming Tata Cars & SUVs – Curvv, Sierra

Tata Motors is getting aggressive with its product strategy for the Indian market. The company has recently introduced the revised versions of the Nexon, Nexon EV, Safari and Harrier. Tata will also introduce updated versions and new variants of the remaining existing models. Adding to it, the homegrown passenger vehicle maker is working on a wide range of new products to be launched in the next couple of years –

Tata Motors will launch the electric version of the Punch micro SUV before the end of this financial year. In fact, the small SUV has been caught testing numerous times on the Indian roads. It is expected to be offered with two battery pack options, most likely to be shared from the Tiago.ev or Nexon.ev. The small EV is expected to offer a range of over 300km on a single charge. It is likely to be offered in two variants – Medium Range (MR) and Long Range (LR). The longer battery pack will come with features like a circular display integrated gear selector dial, a two-spoke steering wheel, electronic parking brake, an armrest and rear disc brakes.

Tata Curvv SUV Coupe

Tata will introduce the production version of the Curvv SUV Coupe in the country in 2024. Similar to the Nexon, the new Curvv will be offered with electric as well as International combustion engine. The new model will be designed and devekoped on Tata’s second-gen platform that underpins the Punch hatchback. The Curvv EV will come with a bigger battery pack and is expected to offer a range of over 400km on a single charge. The SUV Coupe is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine that debuted at the 2023 Auto Expo. It will also receive a new 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine that powers the Nexon.

Tata Motors had showcased the Harrier EV concept at the 2023 Auto Expo. The production version of the electric SUV is expected to be launched before the Curvv SUV Coupe. Similar to the Harrier, the 3-row Safari SUV will also receive an electric version in 2024-25. Both SUVs will be based on Tata’s Gen 2 (SIGMA) architecture that’s essentially the heavily re-engineered version of the OMEGA Arch platform. Both EVs are likely to come with AWD system with the vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capacities. The EVs are likely to feature a battery pack of around 60kWh and deliver a range of around 400-500km (in real world conditions).

2023 Tata Harrier

Tata Motors has confirmed that the new-gen Sierra lifestyle SUV in the country in 2025. The Sierra will rival the likes of the Mahindra Scorpio-N and the Thar 5-door. It will be offered with two powertrain options – petrol & electric. The new Sierra will be offered with two seating options – 5-seater & 4-seater lounge version. The SUV will receive a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine that produces 170PS and 280Nm of torque. It will be offered with manual and automatic gearbox options. The electric version is likely to be fitted with an 80kWh battery pack with dual-motor setup.

Similar to the Nexon, Safari and Harrier, Tata Motors will introduce the updated versions of the Altroz, Tiago and Tigor. All three models will receive significant design changes and all-new interior. The new models are likely to get a bigger touchscreen infotainment system, a new steering wheel and other high-end features.
