Upcoming SUVs From Hyundai & Maruti Suzuki In 2023

Maruti Suzuki had launched 2 SUVs – the new Brezza and the Grand Vitara in the country in 2022. The company is now planning to add two more SUVs in its line-up in 2023. On the other hand, Hyundai is also preparing to introduce 3 new SUVs or crossovers in the country in 2023. In this article, we talk about the upcoming SUVs from Hyundai and Maruti in 2023.

India’s largest carmaker, MSIL will showcase the new YTB SUV Coupe and the 5-door Jimny lifestyle SUV at the 2023 Auto Expo. The new YTB SUV Coupe will be based on Suzuki’s lightweight HEARTECT platform that underpins the Baleno hatchback. It will share the styling cues from Suzuki Futuro-e concept, which was unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo. The new model will share the interior features with the Baleno hatchback. It will be powered by a new 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo petrol engine, which could be benefited with a mild hybrid tech. The company could also add a new 1.2L dual-jet petrol engine with manual and AMT unit. This model will be sold through NEXA premium dealership network.

The long-awaited Jimny 5-door is scheduled to make global debut at the Auto Expo 2023. While the Baleno Cross or YTB will go on sale by April 2023, the Jimny 5-door is expected to be launched by mid-2023. Based on the 3-door Jimny Sierra, the 5-door Jimny will ride on 300mm longer wheelbase and the length will be increased by 300mm. The new model will rival the Mahindra Thar and the Force Gurkha. It will be powered by a 1.5L K15B petrol engine with manual and automatic gearbox. It will come with Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD layout.

The Korean automaker, Hyundai will launch the new Creta facelift before April 2023. The new model will come with significant design changes and an upgraded interior. It will also receive ADAS tech with features like autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control and others. The SUV will be powered by a new 1.5L turbo petrol engine that produces 160bhp. This engine will replace the 1.4L turbo-petrol engine. It will continue to be offered with a 1.5L NA petrol and a 1.5L turbo-diesel engine.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 Specs

Hyundai is likely to announce the prices of the Ioniq 5 electric crossover at the 2023 Auto Expo. Interested buyers can book the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric crossover online or at select authorised dealerships by paying a token amount of Rs 1 lakh. To be launched as a CKD unit, the new Ioniq 5 is expected to cost under Rs 50 lakh. The new electric SUV is offered with two battery pack options – a 72.6kWh and a 58kWh – offering a range of around 384km and 481km respectively. The India-spec model will be offered with RWD and AWD drivetrain options.

The Korean automaker is also preparing a new micro SUV, internally codenamed Ai3 for the Indian market. The new model is expected to be launched by festive season, 2023. It is likely to be unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo in a pre-production form. The new model will be based on the K1 platform that underpins the Santro & the Korean-spec Casper mini SUV. To be positioned below the Venue, the new Ai3 CUV will rival the Tata Punch. It will get a 1.2L 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 81bhp and 114Nm of torque. The company could also offer a CNG option. Both manual and AMT gearbox options will be on offer.
