Upcoming Renault, Nissan 7-Seater SUVs – What to Expect?

Earlier this year, Renault and Nissan announced their product expansion plans and a fresh investment of Rs 5,300 crore for the Indian market. The carmakers will introduce six new locally produced models including three all-new vehicles that will be shared between sister brands. While these upcoming Renault, Nissan models overlap within the segment, they will be different from each other. The plan outlines A-segment EVs (Kwid EV) and SUVs that will be positioned in the C and higher C-segment (new-gen Duster 5 and 7-seater).

As per media reports, the new-generation Renault Duster will have its world premiere towards the end of this year. Its India launch might happen in 2025. Nissan will also bring in the new Duster based 5 and 7-seater SUVs, but these models are likely to carry different design elements, interior bits and features. The upcoming Renault, Nissan 7-seater SUVs will be built on the CMF-B platform and are expected to be heavily localized. The all-new Duster will derive its design inspiration from the Dacia Bigster concept that first broke cover in 2021.

The SUV is likely to feature thin LED headlamps, a narrow front grille, angular bumper and boxy bonnet. Some of its other design highlights might include squarish wheel arches with bold cladding, door pillars integrated rear door handles, a twin pod-style spoiler and Bigster-inspired Y-shaped taillamps with the trunk lid.

Speculations are on rife that the third-generation Renault Duster (and its Nissan’s version) could be offered with two petrol engines – 1.5L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated and 1.5L turbo GDi. The SUV can be had with either the FWD or AWD system. The FWD drivetrain setup might be available only on the lower trims and the higher variants might be exclusively offered with the AWD system. The Duster’s new version will be bigger and more spacious than the previous model.
