Jeep currently sells four SUVs in its Indian product lineup: Compass, Meridian, Wrangler, and Grand Cherokee. Now, the American automaker is focused on establishing a robust customer base through its products and services.
According to reports, the company is setting its sights on the fiercely competitive mid-size SUV segment by introducing a new product to rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun. Although there’s no official confirmation regarding the upcoming Jeep SUV, speculation suggests it might be the Jeep Avenger, which debuted globally in late 2022.
Design & Platform
The new Jeep SUV, possibly the Avenger, is built on the modular CMP platform, also utilized in the Citroen C3 Aircross. Sporting an aggressive front fascia, it features Jeep’s signature seven-slot grille flanked by headlamps with a split setup and thin LED DRLs. The SUV rides on 18-inch alloy wheels, with bold shoulder creases and black body cladding accentuating its profile. At the rear, squared-off taillamps with X-shaped LED lights adorn the Jeep Avenger. Interior & Features
Inside, the SUV adopts a minimalist theme, offering a range of features including a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, a digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, dashboard-integrated rectangular AC vents, dual-zone climate control, rain-sensing wipers, and adaptive cruise control.
Engine Specs
As for the powertrain, the new Jeep SUV will likely borrow the 1.2L turbo petrol engine from the C3 Aircross, delivering 109bhp and 205Nm of torque. It is expected to be available with both manual and automatic gearbox options, along with front-wheel-drive configuration. In global markets, the Jeep Avenger will also offer a mild hybrid powertrain with a Stellantis-built 54kWh battery pack, producing 156bhp and 260Nm of torque. Additionally, an electric variant of the SUV is anticipated, boasting a range of around 400km on a full charge. Both petrol and electric versions will feature Jeep’s Selec Terrain off-road modes: Eco, Normal, Sport, Snow, and Mud.
