Tata Punch Facelift Testing Begins – Launch Details

We reported earlier that Tata Motors is working on the Punch facelift, which has now been spotted testing for the first time on Indian roads. The spotted model was fully covered in thick cloth, which suggests that launch could take place in near future. However, the company reveals that the Tata Punch facelift will arrive sometime in 2025.

Tata Punch Facelift Design Changes

New Tata Punch

The Tata Punch facelift will share styling cues from the Punch EV, which is already on sale in the Indian market. The SUV’s front fascia is inspired from the Punch EV, featuring the same bonnet line, split headlamp setup and similar bumper. The same design language is also offered on the bigger Tata SUVs including the Nexon, Harrier and Safari.

The Punch facelift is not likely to miss out on the full-width LED light bar, which is available in the Punch EV. The SUV could also get a differently styled bumper. The side profile of the SUV appears identical to the existing model. The rear also retains the styling, except for the revised bumper and new internals for tail-lamps. The micro SUV will come with newly designed alloy wheels.

Punch Facelift Interiors – What To Expect?

The Tata Punch facelift is likely to share interiors from the Punch EV; however, the ICE version will have a different set of features. The SUV is likely to receive revised dashboard layout with a bigger touchscreen infotainment unit and new instrument console. The micro SUV could receive a full-TFT instrument console, a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, new touch-panel for AC, etc. The SUV won’t receive electronic parking brake and rear disc brakes, which are available in the electric Punch.

The Tata Punch is likely to retain the existing engine options. It will continue to be powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 86bhp and 113Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit. It is also available in CNG guise where it produces 73.4bhp and 103Nm.

The Tata Punch micro SUV will directly rival the Hyundai Exter and Citroen C3. Maruti Suzuki will also enter this fast growing segment with an all-new model, internally codenamed Y43 SUV by late 2026.
