Upcoming Maruti Suzuki SUV – Baleno-Based, Launch In Early 2023

Maruti Suzuki has planned a range of new SUVs for the Indian market. While the company is ready to launch the Grand Vitara mid-size SUV to challenge the Hyundai Creta, it’s reported to showcase the Jimny (5-door) and a Baleno-based Coupe SUV (codenamed – YTB) at the 2023 Auto Expo. Reports suggest that the Maruti Baleno Cross (YTB) will be the first one to hit the road. It could enter into production in March and its market launch might take place in April 2023.

The upcoming Maruti Suzuki SUV is currently in its testing phase and caught on camera a number of times. The spy images reveal that its design and styling will be inspired by the Baleno premium hatchback and the Futuro-e Coupe SUV concept. The latter one made its debut at the 2020 Auto Expo. The model will have a trapezoidal grille with chrome treatment (similar to the Grand Vitara), low-set headlamps and high mounted LED DRLs.

Design elements such as squared-off wheel arches, black body cladding, alloy wheels, pronounced rear bumper, raked rear windshield and boot-lid integrated spoiler will enhance its Coupe SUV-ish looks. On the feature front, the automaker is likely to equip the vehicle with advanced goodies such as wireless phone charging, connected car tech, touchscreen infotainment system with the latest smartphone connectivity, a 360 degree camera, a Head-Up Display (HUD), 6 airbags and more. It would be quite early to comment on its engine specifications. Though, the new Maruti Suzuki SUV (YTB) is likely to come with the mild hybrid powertrain. It could be borrowed from the new-generation Brezza that comes with the 1.5L K15C mild hybrid petrol engine. Rumour has it that the new Maruti Suzuki SUV could be offered with a Boosterjet turbo petrol motor that was offered on the Baleno RS.

Official details on the new Maruti YTB Coupe SUV are likely to be revealed in coming months. Stay tuned to IndiaCarNews.
