Upcoming Diesel Cars – Mahindra, Hyundai, Jeep, Kia

Popular brands including Maruti Suzuki, Renault, Nissan and Volkswagen Group have announced to completely cease diesel engine powered cars in India. Most of the automakers have completely shifted to petrol cars; however, diesel still hold a significant market share. Upcoming Mahindra Diesel SUVs

New Mahindra XUV700 SUV

Mahindra is still holding a significant share in the SUV category. The company aims to play premium and is ready to introduce a wide range of new SUVs in the country in the next couple of years. The brand will introduce the new XUV700 7-seater SUV, next-gen Scorpio, a 5-seater XUV500, Bolero Neo and the XUV400 mid-sized SUV in the next couple of years.

The XUV700, new Scorpio and the next-gen 5-seater XUV500 will be powered by the new 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine. This engine will be tuned for different states of power. While powering the XUV700, this engine will produce around 180bhp of power. The new Scoprio and the 5-seater XUV500 will receive the de-tuned version of this engine.

The XUV400 will be powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine that also powers the Marazzo and the XUV300. This engine is capable of producing 121bhp and 300Nm of torque. On the other hand, the Bolero Neo (re-badged TUV300) will get the 100bhp, 1.5L mHawk diesel engine.

Hyundai Alcazar Launch

Hyundai will soon introduce the Alcazar 7-seater SUV, which will be positioned against the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari and the MG Hector Plus. This SUV will receive the 2.0L petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The diesel engine churns out 113bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. The company is also planning to launch a new mid-sized MPV, which will also source the 1.5L diesel engine from the Creta SUV.

Hyundai will also launch the next generation Elantra sedan and the next-gen Tucson SUV with diesel engine in 2022. Adding to it, Hyundai is also considering the Palisade full-size SUV for the Indian market. The India-spec Palisade is likely to be powered by a 2.2-litre CRDi 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that is capable of producing 197bhp of power and 440Nm of torque.

Upcoming Kia Diesel Cars

Kia KY MPV Spied

Kia will introduce a new mid-sized MPV, which has been caught testing in India. This MPV will be based on the Seltos platform and will share the engine specifications and mechanical part from the SUV sibling. It will be offered with a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine that produces 113bhp of power and 250Nm of torque.

Upcoming Jeep Diesel Cars

Jeep Commander Teased (1)

Jeep will launch a new 7-seater SUV, codenamed H6 in the country in early 2022. The new SUV will be based on the modified version of the Compass platform. It will be positioned against the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and the Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace. This model will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine, which could produce around 200bhp of power. The H6 is reportedly to be called the Jeep Commander SUV.
