Upcoming 300cc & 400cc Motorcycles – Bullet To Scrambler 400X

In the recent times, we have been witnessing the rising demand for quarter-litre motorcycles with engine capacity of 300cc to 400cc range. The newly launched Triumph Speed 400 and the Harley Davidson X 440 have received an overwhelming response from buyers in the country. In the next few months, we will witness a series of new launches in the fastest growing 300-400cc motorcycle segment. We have compiled a list of upcoming new 300-400cc motorcycles in the country in the next 6-9 months. 

TVS Apache RTR 310

TVS Motor Company is all set to launch the new Apache RTR 310 naked motorcycle in the country on September 6, 2023. The company has released a new teaser of the upcoming motorcycle. The motorcycle is basically the naked, sportier version of the Apache RR310. It comes with adjustable levers, single-piece handlebar, rear-set footpegs, sporty riding stance, a muscular fuel tank with tank extensions and others. The motorcycle is likely to get a non-adjustable USD front fork and a preload-adjustable monoshock suspension setup. It is powered by the same 312.7cc, reverse inclined, single-cylinder engine that produces 34PS and 27.3Nm of torque.

The new-gen KTM 390 Duke has recently made its global debut. The new model has received significant design changes including the new LED headlight with boomerang-shaped DRLs, larger fuel tank shrouds, a new split seat setup and the exposed rear subframe. The motorcycle gets a larger 399cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that produces 44.25bhp and 39Nm of torque, and is paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The motorcycle is benefitted with a slipper clutch and quickshifter.

The new KTM 390 Duke comes with launch control, 3 ride modes – Street, Rain & Track, a 5-inch TFT motor, smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, etc. The motorcycle gets a new powder-coated steel trellis frame with 43mm USD front forks with rebound and compression adjustability. The monoshock at the rear gets preload and rebound adjustment. The new 390 Duke gets a new 320mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc along with dual-channel, cornering, and Supermoto ABS.

New Royal Enfield Bullet 350

Royal Enfield has officially announced to launch the new generation Bullet 350 in the country on 30th August 2023. The new motorcycle will retain the original styling; however, it gets significantly improved design and new tech. It is powered by a new 346cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that churns out 20.2bhp of power and 27Nm of torque. Transmission duties will be handled by a 5-speed gearbox. The new Bullet 350 comes with conventional telescopic front forks and a twin-shock absorbers at the rear. It will have front and rear disc brakes with the standard single-channel ABS.

The motorcycle will be based on the Royal Enfield’s new ‘J’ platform, which also underpins the Meteor 350, Classic 350 and the Hunter 350. It comes with chrome treatment around its retro-styled circular headlamp, rear-view mirrors & taillamp, a new single-piece seat and others. 

Royal Enfield Classic 350 Bobber

Not just Bullet 350, Royal Enfield will launch an all-new 350cc Bobber motorcycle in the country. The new RE 350cc Bobber will essentially be a lighter & more affordable variant of the Classic 350. Compared to the Classic 350, the new 350cc Bobber has a smaller subframe. The overall styling remains identical to the Classic 350, but the rear section extends only up to the rear shock absorber mounts. It features highly raised handlebars, round headlamp, muscular fuel tank and shrouded telescopic fork suspension. The new Bobber will be powered by a 349cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine producing 20bhp and 27Nm of torque. The motorcycle will rival the likes of the Jawa 42 Bobber and the Jawa Perak.

New Yamaha R3 & MT-03

Japanese automaker, Yamaha will soon introduce the new R3 fully-faired motorcycle in the country. Not just R3, Yamaha is also likely to introduce the MT-03 naked sportsbike before the end of this financial year. In fact, dealers have already started accepting pre-orders for the new Yamaha R3 at a token amount of Rs 5,000. Powering the new R3 is a 321cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that produces 42bhp and 29.5Nm of torque, and is paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The motorcycle gets upside-down front fork & monoshock at the rear. For braking, the bike gets 298mm front and 220mm rear disc brakes.

After introducing the Speed 400, Triumph Motorcycles India is now planning to launch the Scrambler 400 X. The Scrambler 400 X design is inspired from the Scrambler 900. It is powered by an all-new single-cylinder engine, called the TR-series powertrain. The 398cc, liquid-cooled engine features DOHC architecture, and is capable of producing 40bhp and 37.5Nm of torque. The powertrain is coupled to a 6-speed gearbox. The new motorcycle is based on a hybrid spine/perimeter frame that is built from tubular steel. The Scrambler rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloys wrapped in Metzeler Karoo Street tyres. The Triumph Scrambler 400 X get 43mm big-piston front fork and a monoshock at the rear. The Scrambler has 150mm of travel at each end.

Hero-Harley Davidson Nightster 440

Hero MotoCorp has trademarked the Nighster 440 name in India. It could be the brand’s upcoming 440cc motorcycle, which will share its platform, components and engine with the Harley Davidson X440. However, the motorcycle will have different design and forward riding position. The motorcycle is expected to get retro-styled round headlamps, bar-end mirrors, a muscular fuel tank, wide handlebar, circular instrument console and sporty exhaust pipe. It will use the 440cc, single-cylinder, oil/air-cooled engine that produces 27bhp and 38Nm of torque.

Hero MotoCorp is testing an all-new adventure motorcycle with bigger capacity engine. Likely to be called the XPulse 400 or 421, the new ADV will be built around a new 421cc single-cylinder engine. The new model will be powered by a new 421cc engine and will have performance to rival the KTM 390 Adventure and the upcoming new RE Himalayan 450. This powertrain is likely to produce around 40bhp of power and close to 35Nm of torque.
