TVS Raider 125 Launched At 77,500; Bajaj Pulsar 125 Rival

TVS Motor Company has launched the new Raider 125cc commuter motorcycle in the Indian market. The new TVS Raider 125 is priced at Rs 77,500 (ex-showroom. Delhi).  It also mark TVS re-entry in the 125cc category in India; however, TVS is already selling the Star City 125 and the Victor 125 in select international markets.

The new TVS Raider is positioned against the likes of the Bajaj Pulsar 125, Honda CB Shine SP and the Hero Glamour Xtec. In the TVS line-up, the new 125cc motorcycle is positioned between the Radeon 110 and the Apache RTR 160 4V.

The new TVS Raider 125 comes with several modern design elements and features. It comes with LED lighting system, which includes LED headlights, LED tail-lights, LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps), and LED turn indicators. The motorcycle has digital instrument console, split seats, black alloy wheels, tubeless tyres, disc brake, etc. The motorcycle gets a single-piece grab rail, alloy footpegs and a rubber brake pedal. It gets sportier side panels with 3D logo and the signature prancing horse 3D logo on the fuel tank extensions.

The motorcycle gets segment-first LCD display, ride modes, voice assist and a 3-valve engine. It’s color TFT display packs with digital document storage and voice assist function. With Bluetooth connectivity, the TVS Raider is the most advanced offering its segment. The motorcycle also gets a stop-start system – a first for a TVS motorcycle – and is called the IntelliGo.

TVS claims that the new motorcycle is designed with a global outlook, which suggests that the company would aim to export the Raider to select international markets. The motorcycle has a 780mm seat height, which is good enough to accommodate even short height riders. It has a ground clearance of 180mm, which is sufficient to tackle Indian road conditions.

The TVS Raider 125 also comes with segment first underseat storage space. The motorcycle also offers segment first two riding modes – ECO and Power. The Eco mode will offer higher fuel efficiency, while the Power mode will enhance the overall performance.

The TVS Raider 125 gets 240mm front petal disc and 130mm rear drum brane with synchronous braking technology. Suspension set-up includes telescopic front fork and monoshock rear shock absorbers. It rides on 17-inch wheels shod with 80/100 and 100/90 section tyres at the front and rear respectively. The TVS Raider rides on 1326mm wheelbase, and has a kerb weight of 123kgs. It offers a fuel tank of 10-litres capacity.

It is powered by a 124.8cc single-cylinder fuel injected 3-valve engine that is capable of producing 11.22bhp of power at 7,500rpm and a peak torque of 11.2Nm at 6,000rpm. This powertrain is paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The company claims that the new 125cc engine comes with several patented technologies for high thermal efficiency and heat management.
