TVS Plans To Launch Norton Motorcycles In India

TVS Motor Company is reportedly planning to introduce the Norton motorcycle brand in the Indian market. For people not in the know, TVS bought out the iconic British motorcycle brand in April 2020.

The report claims that Norton has trademarked four motorcycles in India – Norton Commando, Norton Atlas, Norton Manx and Norton Fastback. TVS acquired the Norton in an all-cash deal for 16 million.

Norton Motorcycles manufacturer is known for making retro-themed, mid-to-large capacity motorcycles (performance bikes to cruisers) ranging from 600cc to 1200cc. Founded by James Lansdowne Norton, in Birmingham, in 1898, Norton Motorcycles is among the most popular British motorcycle brands of all time and is one of the most emotive marques today. Since the 20th century, Norton Motorcycles is renowned for their classic models and eclectic range of luxury motorcycles ranging from authentic retro classic reboots of the famous Commando to their contemporary 200 bhp, 1200cc V4 super-bikes.

Norton Motorcycles has recently moved operations to a new factory in Solihull, UK. This factory is spread over 75,000 square feet and can be expanded as and when needed. The factory has an installed capacity of manufacturing 8,000 units, annually. The manufacturing unit is equipped with modern tools to assemble the motorcycles.
