Triumph Motorcycles has rolled out the new Street Scrambler Sandstorm Edition in India alongside the Scrambler 1200 Steve McQueen Edition. While the former has been priced at Rs 9.65 lakh, the latter costs Rs 13.75 lakh(all, ex-showroom). Only 775 units of the new Triumph Street Scrambler Sandstorm Edition will be sold globally.
Design of the limited edition has been inspired by the original 1960s Triumph Scrambler desert racers. The bikemaker says that the new 2021 Sandstorm edition “delivers all of the Stree Scrambler’s authentic attitude and DNA”. Upfront, the model features a new headlamp bezel with a black grille and a high mudguard.
Features such as brushed alloy sump guard, split seats and a tall-set exhaust unit further enhance its sporty looks. The bike comes in a custom Sandstrom Matte Storm Grey colour scheme with Ironstone decals and Matt Storm Grey high level mudguard, side panel and frame cowl. The model underpins the tubular steel frame with twin cradles. It has been assembled with spoked 100/90-19 and 150/70 R17 Metzeler Tourance front and rear tyres respectively. The suspension setup of the Triumph Street Scrambler Sandstorm Edition includes 41mm forks with cartridge damping upfront and twin shocks with adjustable preload rear suspension. The bike derives its braking power from the single 310mm floating Brembo front and 255mm Nissin rear disc brakes. Both units have been further assisted by ABS.
Triumph Street Scrambler Sandstorm Edition has been powered by the BS6-compliant 900cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The motor has been tuned for producing a maximum power of 64.1bhp at 7,250rpm and 80Nm of torque at 3,250rpm. The company claims that the new limited edition offers fuel economy of 4.3-litres per 100km and 99g/km Euro 5 CO2 emissions. It has fuel tank capacity of 12-lites.
