The launch of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor in India has been officially confirmed for April 3, 2024. Essentially, it will be a re-badged version of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx with minor cosmetic alterations both inside and out. Although Toyota has not yet disclosed official details about the new sub-4 meter SUV, anticipation is high.
While the Toyota Taisor is yet to make its debut, it’s expected to showcase Toyota’s familiar front grille, with slight modifications to the front and rear bumpers, along with newly-designed wheels. Elements such as the fog lamp surrounds and select plastic components might resemble those found in the Toyota Rumion, which is the re-badged Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.
Inside the cabin, several changes are anticipated. The Toyota Taisor may feature a slightly different dashboard with new inserts and distinct seat upholstery. Most of its features are expected to be carried over from the Fronx. The new Toyota small SUV is set to offer a HUD (head-up display), a 360-degree camera, a 6-speaker sound system, a colored MID in the instrument cluster, a wireless charger, OTA updates, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity, fast USB charging points, voice assistance capabilities, and six airbags, among other features.
In terms of engine options, the new Toyota Taisor SUV will likely come equipped with the same 1.2L naturally aspirated and 1.0L Boosterjet petrol engines found in the Fronx. The former delivers a claimed power of 90bhp with 113Nm of torque, while the latter offers 100bhp and 147Nm of torque. Like the Fronx, the Urban Cruiser Taisor will be offered with both manual and AMT (only with the Boosterjet variants) gearbox options.
It’s expected that mileage figures will also remain consistent. The Fronx with the naturally aspirated and Boosterjet petrol engines is claimed to achieve fuel efficiencies of 21.79kml (MT) and 21.5kmpl (MT), and 20.01kmpl (AMT), respectively.
Regarding pricing, the new Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor is anticipated to be priced similarly to the Fronx, which currently falls within the price range of Rs 7.51 lakh to Rs 13.03 lakh (ex-showroom).
