The much-awaited new-gen Toyota Innova Hycross is all set to make global debut today in Indonesia. Ahead of the global debut, clearest images of the SUV have been leaked on the internet. The images also confirmed that the Indonesian-spec model will be called the new Innova Zenix. It will make its India debut on November 25, 2022 and is expected to be launched sometime in January 2023.
The new Toyota Innova Hycross will be based on the TNGA-C modular platform instead of the ladder-frame chassis. It is the front-wheel-drive monocoque platform, while the current Innova Crysta is available as a rear-wheel-drive model. The images reveal that the new Innova will be branded as an SUV, which is evident from its more crossover-ish profile and SUV-like front fascia.
The front design of the new Toyota Innova Hycross is heavily inspired from the new Corolla Cross, featuring a larger hexagonal-shaped front grille finished in contrast black with chrome treatment. It comes with a wide, wraparound LED projector headlamps with chrome separators dividing each unit. It comes with new set of daytime running lamps placed on the top with an ‘eyebrow’ shape. There is a unique separator in the centre of the wide front bumper that merges with the triangular units on each corner. The triangular housings come with wide, horizontally positioned LED daytime running lamps. Also visible are faux aluminium bits on each corner of the bumper.
There are two prominent creases that runs across the length and merges neatly with the wraparound tail-lights. The bonnet also has strong lines that merges with the A-pillar. It has flared wheel arches with black plastic cladding, and multi-spoke alloy wheels. The overall styling seems inspired from the Veloz MPV on sale in select South Asian markets. It has big glasshouse area that should offer airy feel for all 3-rows.
The new Toyota Innova Hycross comes with an all-new feature-loaded cabin. It comes with a layered dashboard with dual-tone brown and black scheme. The central console is dominated by a large free-standing touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity. The rectangle shaped AC vents with silver surrounds are placed right below the touch screen and corners of the dashboard. There are few physical buttons for AC control right below the central AC vents. The automatic gearbox visible in the images are placed very close to the dashboard and multiple buttons including electronic parking brake are also placed right next to the gear lever.
The new model gets dual-tone leatherette seats and chrome treatment on door panels. It gets digital instrument console and a 3-spoke multi-functional steering wheel (similar to the Urban Cruiser Hyryder). In terms of features, the new Innova Hycross will come with a large dual-pane panoramic sunroof, side roof-mounted air-con vents, ambient lighting, front-seat mounted rear monitors, power tailgate, captain seats with ottoman function, electronic parking brake and a 360 degree camera.
It is reported that Toyota Hycross will come with Toyota’s Safety Sense with features like Pre-Collision System, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist and Automatic High Beam. The new model will be powered by a 2.0L TNGA engine with a strong hybrid tech. Adding to it, the MPV will also receive a 2.0L NA petrol engine.
