Toyota Innova Crysta Becomes India’s 2nd Top Selling MPV

In February 2021, most of the car manufacturers witnessed a decent growth (except Ford and Skoda). If we take a look at the segment-wise sales data, the compact, mid-size and premium SUV segments recorded a growth of 95%, 83% and 53% respectively. The MUV segment, however, witnessed a decline of 14% with total sales of 27,837 units against 32,261 units of the same month previous year.

The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga retained the top spot with total sales of 9,774 units. Compared to the same month last year, the carmaker sold 11,782 units of the Ertiga, recording a decline of 17%. What comes as a surprise is the Toyota Innova Crysta outnumbered Mahidnra Bolero, Maruti Suzuki XL6 and Renault Triber with a big margin. With total sales of 6,018 units, it has become the second top-selling MPV in the country. In February 2020, the Japanese carmaker sold 5,459 units of the Innova Crysta.

MG Motor India will also bring in the MG G10 to challenge the Kia Carnival. Toyota and Maruti Suzuki will co-develop new MPVs for the Indian market.
