10 New 7 Seater MPVs and SUVs Launching In 2021-22

In this article, we bring you a list of top 10 upcoming new 7-seater MPVs and SUVs to be launched in the Indian market in the next 1-2 years

1. Toyota Fortuner Legender

The long-awaited Fortuner facelift will be launched in the country on January 6, 2021. Adding to it, the company will also launch the Fortuner Legender – a rugged looking version of the regular model. The new Legender variant will come with bigger 20-inch alloys, dual-tone Pearl White with Matte Black paint scheme, glossy black front grille, full LED headlamps, new fog lamps and new air-dam, and new tail-lamps and L-shaped faux air vents.

Inside the cabin, it gets a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Fortuner Legender will be powered by a revised 2.8-litre turbocharged diesel engine that produces 204bhp and 500Nm of torque. The petrol version will receive the same 164bhp, 2.7L turbocharged engine.

2. Tata Gravitas

Tata Motors will launch the Gravitas 7-seater SUV in the country in January-February 2021. It is basically the 6-and 7-seater version of the Harrier. The new model sits on 2741mm wheelbase, which is similar to the Harrier. The overall length and height of the Gravitas, however, will be increased by 63mm and 80mm respectively. The SUV will receive electronic parking brake. It will be powered by the 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that produces 168bhp and 350Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

3. New Mahindra XUV500

The much-awaited new-gen Mahindra XUV500 will finally be launched in the country in March-April 2021. The new model will be based on the new front-wheel-drive moncoque platform, which will also underpin the upcoming Ford C-SUV. The new generation XUV500 will receive ADAS for active driver assistance features. It will have Autonomous Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning and Park Assist. The new XUV500 will be powered by the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that also powers the new Thar; however, this engine will offer power up to 190bhp. The SUV will also receive the BS6-compliant 2.2-litre diesel engine, which is expected to produce close to 180bhp of power.

4. New Mahindra Scorpio

The long-awaited new-gen Mahindra Scorpio will be launched by mid-2021, around June-July. This model will be based on the modified ladder-on-frame chassis, which also underpins the new Thar. The new Scorpio will grow in size, which will allow Mahindra engineers to create more space inside the cabin. The new Scorpio is expected to be powered by a new 2.2L turbocharged diesel engine producing around 158bhp of power. The SUV will also receive a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that also powers the new Thar. Transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

5. Kia KY MPV

Korean automaker, Kia Motors is readying an all-new mid-sized MPV for India to rival the Mahindra Marazzo and the Maruti Ertiga. If reports are to be believed, the new model will be launched in the first quarter of 2022, most probably in January. Codenamed Kia KY, the new MPV will be based on Seltos platform that also underpins the new Hyundai Creta. It will come with 7-seates configuratns. The new model will be offered with two engine options – a 113bhp, 1.5-litre petrol and a 113bhp, 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel. Both manual and automatic versions will be on offer.

6. Hyundai Creta 7-seater

The Korean automaker, Hyundai will launch the 7-seater version of the Creta SUV in the mid-2021. The new model is rumoured to be called the Hyundai Alcazar. The upcoming 7-seater Creta is likely to feature longer wheelbase to accommodate third row of seats. The longer version of the SUV will directly rival the likes of the MG Hector Plus, Tata Gravitas and the Mahindra Scorpio. The upcoming Alcazar is likely to be offered with 2 engine options – a 138bhp, 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol and a 113bhp, 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be offer.

7. Hyundai 7-Seater MPV

Similar to the Kia MPV, Hyundai will also introduce a new 7-seater mid-sized MPV to rival the Mahindra Marazzo. The new MPV will use the new Creta’s platform and will come with flexible seating options. It will share the engine options with the new Creta, which means it will come with a 113bhp, 1.5L NA petrol, a 113bhp, 1.5L turbo-diesel and a 138bhp, 1.4L turbo petrol.

8. Jeep 7-Seater SUV

Jeep will introduce a new 7-seater SUV based on the Small-Wide 4×4 platform, which also underpins the Compass and the Renegade. Likely to be launched by the end of this year, the new Jeep 7-seater SUV will be positioned against the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and others. The diesel version of the SUV is likely to be powered by a 2.0-litre MultiJet II engine. This engine also powers the Compass. It is capable of producing 173bhp and 350Nm of torque. The 7-seater SUV is likely to receive a twin-turbocharged version of this engine, which could offer close to 200bhp and over 400Nm of torque. It will be paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission.

9. Mahindra TUV300 Facelift

Mahindra will introduce the facelifted version of the TUV300 and the TUV300 Plus in the country in the next few months. These models have already been spotted testing several times, revealing most of the design changes to be on offer. The spy images reveal that the TUV300 facelift will have revised front fascia; however, the overall profile will remain the same. The facelifted Mahindra TUV300 will receive the BSVI-compliant 1.5L, 3-cylinder turbo-diesel engine with 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox options. In the BS4 avatar, this engine produces 100bhp and 240Nm of torque.

10. MG MPV

MG Motors will launch an all-new MPV in the country in the end of this year or early 2022. The company could introduce the MG 360M, which was unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo. Adding to it, the full-size G10 MPV could also be launched in India. We believe that MG could opt for the 360M, which will be positioned against the Mahindra Marazzo and the upcoming MPVs from Hyundai and Kia Motors. alking about the MG 360M, the new MPV is 4,615mm long, 1,735mm wide and 1,660mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,750mm. With second and third row seats folded down, the 360M offers a luggage carrying capacity of 1,350-litres. It is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired to a CVT automatic gearbox. This engine produces 103PS of power and 135Nm of torque.
