Toyota Hyryder SUV – AWD, eCVT, Strong Hybrid, Power Figures

The Japanese automaker is ready to unveil its all-new mid-size SUV on 1st July 2022. While the company hasn’t yet revealed the name and details of the vehicle, it’s reported to be named Toyota Hyryder. According to a fresh media report, the new Toyota compact SUV will come with the 1.5L petrol engines benefited with mild and strong hybrid technology. The former will be made available with the manual and automatic gearbox options and the latter will have an e-CVT unit as we have seen in the newly-launched Honda City Hybrid.

The report further states that the Toyota Hyryder will be the first vehicle in its segment to offer AWD (all-wheel drive) system. Though, it will be reserved for the mild hybrid powertrain. One must note that the Renault Duster AWD was launched in 2014 and discontinued in 2020. The strong hybrid setup will come with the self charging and FWD (front-wheel drive) system. The entire setup will ensure better fuel efficiency and lower carbon emissions.

Toyota Mid-Sized SUV

The Toyota Hyryder mild hybrid will deliver a peak power of 103PS and the strong hybrid version will be good for 116PS. It can be had with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic transmission. As mentioned above, the strong hybrid will be offered with the e-CVT gearbox. The powertrain specs for the upcoming Maruti Suzuki mid-size SUV are likely to be the same as both models have been co-developed by the carmakers. Though, their design and styling will be different.

The new Toyota compact SUV is likely to be packed with features such as a large floating touchscreen infotainment system with the latest smartphone connectivity, Head-Up Display, instrument cluster with green dial, a 360 degree camera, connected car tech, ventilated front seats and 6 airbags.
