Toyota Hyryder Recalled Due To Seat Belt Issues

Maruti Suzuki has officially recalled a total of 9,125 units of the new Grand Vitara SUV, updated Ertiga and XL6, which are manufactured between 2nd – 28th November, 2022. Now, the company has issued a recall 994 units of the newly launched Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The new SUV has been recalled to rectify the faulty seat belt shoulder height adjuster, which could lead to its disassembly.

It is suspected that a defect in one of the child parts of the front seat belt shoulder height adjuster assembly. This could potentially lead to seat belt disassembly. However, there hasn’t been any report of the failure of the affected part in the current lot of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Toyota is most likely to contact the owners of the affected vehicles. If any of the vehicle found faulty, the part will be replaced free of cost by company at their authorised service outlets.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder is offered with two engine options – a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol with a mild hybrid tech and a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder petrol-hybrid. While the former makes 103bhp with 137Nm, the latter delivers a combined power output of 114bhp and 122Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed automatic and an e-CVT automatic (strong hybrid only).

The mild hybrid variant is priced between Rs 10.48 lakh and Rs 17.19 lakh. The top-spec model is available with a manual gearbox and all-wheel drive layout. The strong hybrid model is tagged between Rs 15.11 lakh and Rs 18.99 lakh. Toyota is also preparing to launch the CNG version of the Hyryder SUV. The Urban Cruiser Hyryder and the Maruti Grand Vitara are manufactured at Toyota’s production plant in Bidadi in Karnataka.
