The much-awaited Toyota Corolla Cross mid-sized SUV has finally been launched in Thailand. It is based on the Toyota’s TNGA C (Toyota New Global Architecture C) platform that also underpins the new-gen Corolla and the C-HR.
The Toyota Corolla Cross is positioned right between the C-HR and the RAV4 SUV in the brand’s global line-up. It directly rivals the Jeep Compass, Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-30 and the Subaru XV. In terms of proportions, the Corolla Cross is 4,460mm long, 1,825mm wide and 1,623mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 2,640mm, which is similar to that of the C-HR crossover.
What’s Under The Hood?
The new Toyota Corolla Cross SUV is available in 2 engine options – a 1.8-litre 2ZR-FBE petrol and a 1.8L petrol-hybrid powertrain. The gasoline engine is capable of producing 140bhp and 175Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a CVT automatic gearbox.
The hybrid powertrain comes with a 600-volt electric motor that offers 72bhp and 163Nm of torque. The electric motor coupled to an 1.8-litre 2ZR-FXE engine that produces 98bhp and 142Nm of torque. The hybrid version comes with Toyota’s e-CVT. While the hybrid unit is claimed to return 23.3kmpl of mileage, the gasoline unit offers 15.4kmpl.
Exterior Styling & Interior
The Toyota Corolla Cross is available in 7 exterior color options – Metal Stream Metallic, Attitude Black Mica, Platinum White Pearl, Graphite Metallic, Red Mica Metallic, Celestite Gray Metallic and Nebula Blue.
In terms of styling, the Toyota Corolla Cross looks completely different from the popular C-HR Crossover SUV. It shares most of the styling cues from the globally popular RAV4. The SUV gets a huge hexagonal front grille, sleek LED running lights in horizontal layout, dual-tone bumper with wider air-dam, faux silver skid plate and round-shaped fog lamp housing.
The Corolla Cross gets RAV4-like rear profile and black plastic cladding all around the body. The SUV rides on newly designed dual-tone 18-inch alloy wheels. It offers a large boot space of 487-litres.
The SUV offers Power Back Door with Activated Kick Sensor that offers greater convenience. Some of the features include Power Adjustable Driver Seat, Dual-Zone Automatic Climate Control, Rear Seats can be reclined up to 6 degrees, Rear Seat Armrest with Cup Holders, along with Air Vents and USB Outlets for rear passengers.
The SUV is equipped with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and T-Connect connected car application. The T-Connect offers several connected car technologies like location-based service (Find My Car, Theft Track, SOS, Geo-Fencing), Telematics Care (Maintenance Reminder Service, Vehicle Information, etc) and Happiness Mobility.

For passengers’ safety and security, the Corolla Cross gets pre-collision system, lane departure alert with steering assist, dynamic radar cruise control with lane tracing assist, automatic high beam, panoramic view monitor, blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert and 7 SRS Airbags.
