Chevrolet Groove SUV (Hyundai Creta Rival) – New Details Emerge

We informed you earlier that Chevrolet has revealed an all-new mid-sized SUV, called the Groove in China. This model is designed and developed for emerging markets and will be sold in more than 40 countries in Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and Africa.

To be positioned below the Tracker, the Groove will be the brand’s most affordable SUV in its category. The SUV is likely to make global debut in the next couple of months. The Chevrolet Groove is based on the platform of the previous generation of the Tracker SUV. It is basically the re-badged version of the Baojun 510, which has also been spotted testing in India.

Chevrolet is also selling the Captiva SUV based on the Baojun 530 SUV in some Latin and Asian countries. Baojun is a Chinese low-cost SUV maker. In fact, MG Hector and Wuling Almaz are based on the Baojun 530 SUV.

Talking about styling, the Chevrolet Groove looks identical to the Baojun 510. However, it gets the Chevrolet’s front grille, different color options and revised interior with new colour theme. In terms of proportions, the Groove is 4,220mm long, 1,740 mm wide, 1,625 mm high and 2,550 mm between axles. The SUV is fairly equipped with features like LED headlamps, panoramic sunroof, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 4 airbags, traction and stability controls, etc.

Powering the Chevrolet Groove is a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that is capable of producing 105bhp of power and 135Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-step CVT automatic and a 6-speed manual. In the Latin America, the Groove will take on the likes of the Renault Captur, Nissan Kicks, Hyundai Creta and others.
