Citroen C3 SUV (Sonet, Nexon Rival) Teased; Reveal On 16 September

Citroen has officially announced that the much-awaited Made-in-India Citroen C3 compact SUV will make global debut on September 16, 2021. Codenamed C21, the new compact SUV will rival the likes of the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon and the Mahindra XUV300.

The new Citroen C3 compact SUV will be the brand’s second offering in the country. The company has also revealed the first official teaser, which shows the front design of the C21 SUV. It gets the familiar design with signature chrome grille, and dual-layer headlamps. The SUV gets sculpted bonnet, a large hexagonal-shaped air-intake with chrome surround. Also visible are the roof rails and the ORVMs with integrated blinkers.

It was reported that the Citroen C3 compact SUV production will commence in the month of December 2021. The new model is likely to be launched in the first quarter of 2021. It will be based on the brand’s new CMP (Common Modular Platform) platform. The new model will be produced at the Thiruvallue plant. This plant has a production capacity of 1 lakh units a year.

The company currently sells the C5 Aircross through 10 outlets in India; however, the dealer could will increase in the near future. Adding to it, Citroen will also sell the C3 compact SUV online. The Citroen C3 compact SUV was leaked online via scale model, which shows that the design is very similar to the bigger Citroen’s. It gets the signature wide grille, dual-layer headlamps, flat bonnet, angular windshield, a flat roof, blacked-out pillars, dual-tone dimaond cut alloys, etc.

The new subcompact SUV will come with host of comfort and convenience features. It will have a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, smartphone connectivity, connected car tech, an electric sunroof, a 12.3-inch digital instrument console, multi-functional steering wheel, etc.

The new Citroen C3 compact SUV will be powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which can produce up to 130bhp of power. A 5-speed manual gearbox will come as standard, while a DCT automatic gearbox could join the line-up at a later stage. The Citroen CC21 could be the first model in India to feature flex-fuel system, which is compatible to feature a 1.2L petrol engine with ethanol blends starting from 27% to entirely on the biofuel.
