After launching the new Innova Hycross, Toyota is now preparing to launch the updated Innova Crysta, a new affordable MPV and an all-new SUV Coupe in the country. Internally called the Toyota A15, the new SUV Coupe will be designed and developed on the Maruti Suzuki YTB SUV Coupe. The Maruti’s version will come first and is scheduled to make its global debut at the 2023 Auto Expo.
The new Toyota A15 SUV Coupe is designed and developed on Suzuki’s HEARTECT platform, which also underpins the Maruti Baleno and the Toyota Glanza hatchback. Testing of the new model has already commenced on the Indian roads. In fact, the global-spec Toyota Yaris Cross has also been spotted testing in India. If reports are to be believed, the Toyota A15 SUV Coupe could share the styling cues from the Yaris Cross. The new report claims that the new SUV Coupe will be launched before the end of this year.
The new Toyota A15 SUV Coupe will replace the Urban Cruiser sub-4 meter SUV in the country. It will be the brand’s smallest SUV and is expected to cost somewhere between Rs 7 lakh and Rs 10 lakh. The new model will rival the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Kia Sonet and others. It comes equipped with several advanced goodies including a new 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity, voice commands and Suzuki Connect.
The SUV Coupe will be powered by a 1.0-litre Boosterjet 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which will soon be introduced in the Marytu YTB. The engine is likely to be benefitted with the mild hybrid tech. This engine is capable of producing 100bhp of power and 150Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer. It could also get a 89bhp, 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine with mild hybrid tech.
