Top Changes In The Australia-spec 5-door Suzuki Jimny XL

Maruti Suzuki had launched the 5-door Jimny lifestyle SUV in the Indian market in early 2023. The company had started exporting the lifestyle off-roader to various international markets in October 2023. The SUV has recently been launched in the Australian market. The Australia-spec 5-door Suzuki Jimny has received some changes, which makes it slightly more premium than the India-spec model.

In India, the lifestyle SUV is called the Maruti Suzuki Jimny. On the other hand, the SUV is called the Suzuki Jimny XL in the Australian market. Japanese automaker, Suzuki is already selling the 3-door model ‘Jimny’ nameplate. Adding to it, the company is also selling the entry-level version of the 3-door model called the ‘Jimny Lite’ in the Australian market.

The Suzuki Jimny XL is also equipped with advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), which is not offered on the India-spec 5-door Jimny. The ADAS tech offer features including autonomous emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control (ACC), and lane departure warning; however, it misses out on the high-beam assist. Instead of radar based tech, the Jimny XL ADAS tech works based on the front-windshield-mounted camera.

The Suzuki Jimny XL also comes with slightly revised colour options compared to the India-spec model. The SUV is offered with both single-tone and dual-tone options. The colour options include Arctic White Pearl, Bluish Black Pearl, Granite Gray, Jungle Green (exclusive), Sizzling Red with Bluish Black roof, and Chiffon Ivory with Bluish Black roof (exclusive).

The 5-door Suzuki Jimny XL is powered by the same 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine that powers the India-spec Jimny. This engine produces 102PS and 130Nm of torque, which is 3PS and 4Nm less than the India-spec off-roader. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic. Both come with Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4×4 drivetrains with low gear ratios.

Moreover, the 5-door Suzuki Jimny XL is only available in a single top-spec trim that is offered with features like a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, a multi-functional steering wheel, and ADAS tech. The India-spec model is available in two variants – Zeta and Alpha. The company is also offering a new Thunder Edition, which is around Rs 2 lakh cheaper than the regular model.
