Thrilling Upgrades Coming: India’s Top 2 Midsize SUVs

Hyundai and Kia continue to hold a strong grip on the midsize SUV segment, with their popular models Creta and Seltos commanding a 53% share in H1, 2023. Maruti-Toyota follows closely behind with a 32% share of the segment. Kia India has already unveiled the facelifted Seltos and started accepting pre-bookings, with prices set to be announced in the coming weeks. Hyundai Creta, currently in its second generation, is also gearing up for a mid-life update slated for early 2024. Let’s explore the key details of these upcoming facelifts.

The refreshed Seltos made a remarkable impact, garnering 13,424 orders on the very first day of bookings, the highest in the segment. Among these, 1,937 bookings were made via the K-Code, prioritizing deliveries for existing Seltos owners. The 2023 Kia Seltos lineup will offer three trims: Tech Line, GT Line, and X-Line. The Tech Line will feature five trims (HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+), while the GT Line and X-Line will have one trim each. The latter two trims will exclusively offer ADAS tech, a 360-degree camera, and 18-inch alloy wheels. All variants of the new Seltos will come equipped with six airbags, ABS, electronic stability control, hill start assist, vehicle stability management, rear parking sensors, all-wheel disc brakes, a tyre pressure monitoring system, speed sensing auto door locks, and three-point seat belts for all passengers with reminders. The engine options for the Seltos facelift include the existing 115bhp 1.5L petrol and 116bhp 1.5L turbo diesel, along with a new 1.5L turbo petrol engine. More details here…

Testing for the 2024 Hyundai Creta facelift has already commenced in India. Similar to its sibling, the upcoming Kia Seltos, Hyundai’s new midsize will feature ADAS tech and a 360-degree camera, along with various feature upgrades. The design and styling will also undergo radical changes. The SUV will showcase a Palisade-inspired grille with cube-like detailing and LED DRLs. The front will feature a full-width LED light bar borrowed from the new-gen Verna, while the rear section will sport a revised tailgate, new LED taillamps connected via an LED light bar, and a tweaked bumper. The 2024 Hyundai Creta is expected to offer three engine options: a 115bhp 1.5L petrol, a 160bhp 1.5L turbo petrol, and a 115bhp 1.5L diesel. More details here…
