Tesla Cybertruck is surely one of the much-awaited global vehicle launches of this year. The electric pickup truck will be first launched in the US market towards the end of this year. Its deliveries, however, might start in 2022. The American automaker confirmed that the model received over 1 million bookings even before its launch.
According to a leaked new patent application, the Cybertruck will offer a range of up to 610 miles (around 982kms) on a single charge. During its first official unveiling, the Cybertuck’s top performance variant was claimed to deliver range of over 500 miles.
The leaked scans also reveal that the American carmaker patented new software “Context Sensitive User Interface For Enhanced Vehicle Operation” for the Cybertruck. One of the images shows the electric pickup truck in towing mode with trailer of up to 20,000 lbs (over 9,000 kgs), which is significantly higher than the announced figures (10,000 pounds). One must note that it’s still unclear that the leaked specifications are of the production model or just for the user interface design.
The Tesla Cybertruck will be offered with three powertrain options – Single Motor RWD (Rear-Wheel Drive), Dual Motor AWD (All-Wheel Drive) and Tri Motor AWD. It has been built from 30X cold rolled stainless steel that’s resistant to denting and is capable to withstand 9mm bullets. The same material used for SpaceX’s Starship spaceship. It has ‘Tesla Armor Glass’ windows, which are claimed to be impenetrable.
Tesla’s upcoming electric pickup truck has been equipped with adaptive air suspension system that can lower and raise the vehicle, depending on the terrain. Its lockable cargo area with a “Magic” tonneau cover makes loading and unloading easier. Inside, it has a unique U-shaped steering and a 17-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
