Tesla is planning to begin mass production of the Cybertruck by the end of 2023. CEO Elon Mush has already revealed that the Tesla Cybertruck is in its final lap and the company’s Texas plant will manufacture the new model with “early production” set to start in the middle of 2023. Final prices of the electric pickup truck are yet to be revealed. In 2019, the company had announced that the initial price will be under $40,000. Since then, the America carmaker has increased prices across its model lineup.
In January 2022, Elon Musk said that due to the disturbance in sourcing components it pushed the launch of Cybertruck into 2023. Later (in May), the company stopped accepting bookings for the electric truck outside North America. Musk said the company received “more orders of the first Cybertrucks than we could possibly fulfill for three years after the start of production.”
Just so you know, Tesla failed to preview the production model and specify how will its battery supply management system work. Reports suggest that the Tesla Cybertruck was designed to utilize the brand’s 4680 battery cells, which are claimed to offer six times more power and have about five times as much energy capacity as the old Tesla 2170 cells. These batteries have already been used for the Tesla Semi and Model Y.
The American electric carmaker aims to increase production capacity of the 4680 cells in Q3, 2022. Musk said that the Tesla Cybertruck won’t be affected by the 4680 production ramp. He further added that the company is increasing the battery output exponentially. Though, rumour has it that the batteries of the electric pickup truck might be redesigned significantly to switch to conventional 2170 batteries.
