Turbocharged petrol engines are gaining popularity among buyers. Most of the car manufacturers are currently offering turbo petrol motor options with their new breed product lineup. The Tata Tigor’s turbo petrol motor will meet the BS6 emission standard. It will be tuned for generating a peak power of 112bhp and 150Nm of torque. It will have a 5-speed manual gearbox for performing transmission duties. The new variant will be put up against the Hyundai Aura turbo petrol that’s powered by a 112bhp, 1.0L, 3-cylinder engine. Compared to its arch rival, the Tigor turbo will be slightly more powerful.
Just so you know, the home-grown carmaker discontinued the BS4 Tata Tigor turbo petrol earlier this year. No other changes are likely to be made to the new variant. It will come with the same comfort goodies and safety features offered with the regular model.
The list of standard features will include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, seat belt with pre-tensioners and load limiters, driver and co-driver seatbelt alert, speed alert, dual-tone interior, a 2.5-inch MID, multi drive modes, tilt and power steering, adjustable front and integrated rear head rests and more. The top-end trim will continue to be exclusively offered with piano black ORVMs, 15-inch dual-tone alloys, contrast black roof (at an additional cost) and rear parking camera.
In other news, Tata Motors is also working on the Altroz turbo petrol variant to challenge the new-generation Hyundai i20 turbo. It will come with a 1.2L turbocharged gasoline unit pushing out power worth 110bhp with 140Nm of torque. The carmaker might also introduce a DCT (dual clutch automatic) gearbox on the Tata Altroz model lineup at a later stage.
