Tata Motors has retained its third position in the list of top car manufacturers, in terms of sales, in October 2023. The company sold 48,343 vehicles in October 2023 as against 45,220 units in the same month last year, reporting a year-on-year (YoY) sales growth of 7%. The homegrown passenger vehicle maker has also reported an 8 per cent month-on-month (MoM) sales growth with 44,810 units sold in September 2023.

The Nexon and the Punch are the two biggest contributors in Tata’s overall sales in October 2023. In fact, these two models account for close to 65 per cent of total Tata sales. The Nexon is the top-selling Tata with 16,887 units sold last month as against 13,767 units in Oct 2022. It reported a YoY sales growth of 23 per cent. In fact, it is the best-selling SUV in the Indian market beating the likes of Hyundai Creta and the Maruti Brezza.
Tata Motors sold 15,317 units of the Punch micro SUV in October 2023 as against 10,982 units in the same month last year. It has reported an impressive YoY sales growth of 39 per cent. In fact, the micro SUV’s MoM sales reported an increase of 17 per cent.
Tata Motors sold 5356 units of the Tiago last month as against 7187 units in October 2022. It reported a year-on-year sales decline of 25 per cent. In fact, the Tiago’s month-on-month sales declined by 21 per cent with 6,789 units sold in September 2023. On the other hand, Tata Altroz has reported a YoY sales growth of 25 per cent with 5984 units sold in Oct 2023 as against 4770 units in the same month last year. The Altroz’s MoM sales declined by 10 per cent with 6684 units sold in September 2023.
Tata Motors’ only sedan, the Tigor has reported a massive YoY sales decline of 61 per cent. The company sold only 1563 units of Tigor last month as against 4001 units in Oct 2022. However, its month-on-month sales increased marginally by 2 per cent.
The brand’s flagship SUVs, the Harrier and Safari have also reported a YoY sales decline of 31 per cent and 23 per cent respectively. Tata sold 1896 units of Harrier in October 2023 as against 2762 units in the same month last year. The company’s flagship model, the Safari reported sales of 1340 units last month as against 1751 units in October 2022. However, both SUVs posted significant increase in month-on-month sales. While Harrier’s MoM sales increased by 105% to 1896 units from 926 units, the Safari’s sales increased by 160% from 546 units in Sept 2023 to 1340 units in Oct 2023.
