Top Car Manufacturers – October 2023 Sales

Automakers have released the sales figure for the month of October 2023. As usual, Maruti Suzuki retains its top post in the list of top car manufacturers in terms of sales. Hyundai, Tata Motors, Mahindra have also retained their 2nd, 3rd and 4th position in the list. In terms of sales, Kia India have managed to outsmart Toyota in October 2023 sales.

Maruti Suzuki

Maruti Grand Vitara Launch Date

Maruti Suzuki has sold 1,68,047 units in October 2023 as against 1,40,337 units in the same month last year. The company recorded a YoY sales growth of 19.74 per cent in the domestic passenger vehicle sales. Adding to it, MSIL retailed 3,894 units of light commercial vehicles, exported 21,951 units, and sold 5,325 vehicles to its OEM partners.

MSIL sold 59,147 units of the utility vehicles and 12,975 units of the Eeco van in October 2023. The sales of mini cars – the Alto and the S-Presso dropped to 14,568 units from 24,936 units. The sales of compact segment cars (Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, and the Wagon R) increased by up to 9.47 per cent with 80,662 units sold last month.

Hyundai

Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) has recorded a total sales of 68,728 units in the country in the month of October 2023. Total sales for the month of October 2023 include domestic sales of 55,128 units and export of 13,600 units. Hyundai has reported a domestic YoY (Year-on-Year) sales growth of 14.85 per cent. In the October 2022, the Korean automaker sold 48,001 vehicles in the domestic market. The export increased by 35.93 per cent.

Tata Motors

The homegrown automaker has reported overall sales (Domestic & International Market) of 82,954 units in October 2023, as against 78,335 units in the same month last year. In the passenger vehicle segment, Tata Motors has sold 48,637 units in October 2023 as against 45,423 units in the same period in 2022. It recorded a positive sales growth of 7 per cent. The total electric vehicle sales stood at 5,465 units in October 2023, compared to 4,277 units in October 2022, a growth of 28 per cent.

Mahindra

Mahindra & Mahindra has announced that its overall sales for the month of October 2023 stood at 80,679 vehicles, a YoY sales growth of 32 per cent. In the utility vehicle segment, Mahindra recorded the highest sales for the fourth consecutive month. In the domestic market, Mahindra sold 43,708 vehicles with a YoY sales growth of 36 per cent. The total sales stood at 44,264 vehicles, including exports. The domestic sales for Commercial Vehicles stood at 25,715 units, also the highest-ever. The company had sold 32,298 units in October 2022.

Kia

Kia has recorded its 4th highest-ever monthly sales with 24,351 units sold in October 2023 as against 23,323 units sold in the corresponding month last year. The company has reported a year-on-year sales growth of 4.41 per cent. The majority of the sales come from the new Seltos with an impressive 12,362 units sold last month. The company sold 6,493 units and 5,355 units of the Sonet and Carens respectively. The Kia EV6 sales stood at 141 units in the domestic market.

Toyota

Toyota Kirloskar Motor reported a sale of 21,879 units in October 2023 as against 13,143 units in the same month last year. This resulting in a Year-on-Year sales growth of 66 per cent. In the domestic market, Toyota sold 20,542 units while the exports account for 1,337 units.

Honda

Honda Elevate Launch Date

Honda has registered total sales of 13,083 units including domestic retail and export in the month of October 2023. The newly launched Honda Elevate plays an important role in constant rise of Honda’s sales in India. The brand has recorded 9,400 unit sales in the domestic market in October 2023, while the export tally stood at 3,683 units.
