Tata Punch, the newly-launched micro SUV from the home-grown carmaker, is being offered at an introductory starting price of Rs 5.49 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s the fourth Tata SUV in our market and is positioned against multiple cars right from Maruti Swift, Ignis to Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite.
We analyse the Punch’s prices against the entry-level subcompact SUVs – Kiger and Magnite. Based on Tata’s Alfa architecture, the new micro SUV comes in four trims – Pure, Adventure, Accomplished and Creative.
All variants are powered by a 1.2L, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that’s good for 86bhp and 113Nm. Both manual and AMT gearboxes are on offer. The model lineup includes four manual variants, which are priced from Rs 5.49 lakh to Rs 8.49 lakh. There are three AMT variants – Adventure, Accomplished and Creative – cost Rs 6.99 lakh, Rs 7.89 lakh and Rs 9.09 lakh respectively.
One must note that the aforementioned prices are introductory ex-showroom and are bound to increase in coming months.

Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite were launched at introductory price range of Rs 5.45 lakh – Rs 9.55 lakh and Rs 4.99 lakh – Rs 9.45 lakh respectively. Prices of both models have been increased. At present, the Kiger costs between Rs 5.64 lakh – Rs 10.9 lakh and the Magnite has been priced from Rs 5.71 lakh – Rs 10.15 lakh. That means, both subcompact SUVs are slightly more expensive than the newly-launched Tata Punch.
The AMT variants of the Renault Kiger can be had within the price range of Rs 7.04 lakh – Rs 10.09 lakh. Prices of the Nissan Magnite AMT fall in the range of Rs 8.51 lakh – Rs 10.15 lakh. The Punch AMT is relatively cheaper than the AMT variants of the Kiger and Magnite. All aforementioned prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
