Hyundai Creta Waiting Period Goes Up To 8 Months

Hyundai Creta, India’s top-selling SUV, currently commands a waiting period of up to 8 months across the country. The information comes from a leaked e-mail sent to a Creta SX (O) diesel automatic variant owner from a Hyundai dealership. The leaked scan reveals that the waiting period of this particular variant is “expected to increase by 5-6 months due to disturbance in supply chain of required components”. Its revised waiting period now stands at 7-8 months. The automaker confirmed that the Creta SX and SX (O) variants are top-selling variants and the diesel models have over 60% contribution in the total sales of the SUV. New Hyundai Creta

The second-generation Hyundai Creta shares its engines and gearboxes with the Kia Seltos. The SUV model lineup comes with three BS6-compliant engines options – a 115hp, 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol, a 115bhp, 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel and a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol. While the 1.5-litre petrol unit can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox, the 1.5-litre turbo diesel motor comes with the 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox options.

The 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine is available with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The new Creta is slightly more fuel efficient than the Kia Seltos despite sharing powertrains. Its 1.5L petrol engine delivers a mileage of 16.8kmpl (MT) and 17.1kmpl (AT). While the 1.5L diesel manual and automatic variants offer 21.4kmpl and 18.3kmpl respectively, the 1.4L turbo petrol unit with DCT gearbox returns 16.8kmpl.
