2023 New Tata Harrier Vs Old Harrier – How Different Are They?

Tata Motors is gearing up to launch updated versions of its Harrier and Safari SUVs in the coming weeks. Ahead of their official debut, we’ve had the opportunity to get a glimpse of both models through clear exterior and interior images. What stands out are the extensive design revisions and the upscale interior, featuring modern features. However, it’s worth noting that the new 2023 Tata Harrier and Safari facelifts retain their existing engine configurations.

Prospective buyers can now secure their bookings by making an initial payment of Rs 25,000. Let’s delve into the differences that set the new Tata Harrier apart from its pre-facelift iteration.

New Tata Harrier Vs Old Features

The refreshed Harrier facelift showcases a significantly updated front fascia. It boasts a new grille with contrasting inserts, a redesigned bumper separated by a bold black band, and a slightly repositioned headlamp cluster housed within a trapezoidal-shaped enclosure. Notably, the upper part of the grille features a full-width LED light bar, while the lower section incorporates a substantial central air intake highlighted by robust plastic cladding.

The side profile, apart from the newly designed five-spoke alloy wheels, largely resembles the current model. The SUV offers alloy wheels ranging up to 19 inches, featuring aero inserts. The rear section has undergone updates, including a revised bumper with new reflector protrusions, sleeker and fresh LED internals, and a rear skid plate with a glossy black finish. In contrast, the existing version boasts a wide front grille with a honeycomb pattern, LED DRLs, HID-type projector headlamps, and fog lamps with cornering function. The overall design and styling of the new Tata Harrier have undoubtedly evolved with this mid-life update, although its dimensions remain unchanged.

Significant changes are also evident in the interior. In contrast to the current version’s dashboard-integrated touchscreen, the new Tata Harrier features a free-standing unit available in sizes of 10.25 inches and 12.3 inches, varying by variant. The faux wood trim on the dashboard has been replaced with a glossy black surface, a textured top panel, and leatherette padding with contrasting stitching. Impressively, all of these elements are accentuated by a slim LED ambient light strip, enhancing the overall ambiance and appeal. Similar to the updated Nexon, the Tata Harrier facelift adopts a new four-spoke steering wheel with a backlit Tata logo and a new touch-based HVAC control panel. Additionally, it features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with navigation. The center console now incorporates a new rotary dial for the drive mode selector with a digital display. The gear lever has been shortened, and higher trims exclusively offer an electronic parking brake, while lower trims retain the traditional handbrake lever.

The rest of the features carry over from the current model, including ADAS tech, a 360-degree camera, a 10-speaker JBL sound system, dual-zone automatic AC, paddle shifters, ventilated and powered front seats with memory function, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charger, standard six airbags, a gesture-controlled powered tailgate, LED DRLs, and Bi-LED projector headlamps.

Under the hood, no changes have been made. The new Tata Harrier continues to be powered by the same 2.0L, 4-cylinder diesel engine, producing 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. Both manual (6-speed) and torque converter automatic (6-speed) transmissions are available. The SUV comes equipped with a front-wheel-drive (FWD) system, three Terrain response modes (Normal, Rough, and Wet), and three drive modes (Eco, City, and Sports). While the powertrain remains consistent with the current model, the new Harrier claims to feature a retuned suspension system aimed at enhancing on-road performance.
