Tata Punch.ev, Harrier.ev, Curvv SUVs To Offer Higher Range

Tata Motors is at the forefront of the electric vehicle (EV) revolution, with a lineup that includes the Nexon.ev, Tiago.ev, and Tigor.ev. To maintain its leadership in this space, the homegrown automaker has laid out ambitious plans for a range of new EVs based on three distinct platforms: Gen 1 (ICE to EV conversion), Gen 2 (Sigma), and Gen 3 (new skateboard). The Tata Punch.ev is already confirmed for launch this year, while the Curvv.ev and Harrier.ev are slated to hit the market in early 2024 and 2025, respectively.

Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, revealed in an interview with an online media publication that the company is determined to capitalize on the falling battery prices and increase the electric range of their upcoming EVs built on Gen 1 and Gen 2 platforms. The forthcoming Tata Punch.ev, Harrier.ev, and Curvv.ev will be high-range vehicles, offering over 500km on a single charge. These EVs are poised to alleviate customers’ range anxiety, especially with the gradual improvement in charging infrastructure along highways. The recently launched Tata Nexon.ev facelift claims an impressive range of 465km, a notable 12km improvement from the previous model.

Tata Curvv Launch Date

Chandra further emphasized that Tata’s upcoming high-range EVs are expected to drive short to medium-term sales growth. However, the long-term profitability of the EV sector hinges on the availability of an adequate charging infrastructure. Tata Motors intends to enhance its charging station network along highways by installing charging points at the fuel outlets of Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs).

In recent developments, Tata Power has already taken steps to address this issue by installing EV charging points at Cricket World Cup 2023 venues across the country. These stations operate 24/7 and are monitored in real-time from a Network Operation Centre located in Mumbai. Customers can easily locate their nearest charging station using the EZ Charge app, book charging slots, and make payments seamlessly using the EZ Charge card – a simple Tag, Charge, Go system.
