After a successful decade-long run in India, the Renault Duster SUV bid farewell in 2022. Currently, the French automaker’s Indian portfolio comprises three models: the Kwid hatchback, the Triber MPV, and the Kiger subcompact SUV. Renault is now gearing up to rekindle the Duster brand in India with a new generation. According to a recent media report, the next-generation Dacia Duster, also known as the Renault Duster, is set to make its global debut on November 29, 2023, in Portugal. Reports indicate that Renault will introduce a three-row variant of the new Duster, which will be based on the Dacia Bigster SUV. The design and styling of the upcoming Duster will draw inspiration from the Bigster, boasting a boxy yet rugged stance. The front fascia will feature a freshly designed grille, slender LED headlamps, prominent fenders, and a new bumper with integrated aluminum skid plates. The SUV will also sport conventional door handles at the front, a redesigned rear bumper, triangular-shaped taillamps, and C-pillar mounted door handles at the rear.
Inside, the interior of the new Renault Duster will see significant enhancements in terms of design and features. Expect a larger, high-mounted touchscreen infotainment system with the latest smartphone connectivity and a digital instrument cluster. The overall fit and finish, as well as the material quality, are likely to see improvements. The next-gen Duster is anticipated to offer more cabin space due to slightly increased dimensions.
On a global scale, the new-generation Renault Duster will be available with three petrol engines. These include a 1.0L turbo petrol, a 1.2L petrol hybrid, and a 1.3L turbo petrol engine producing 120bhp, 140bhp, and 170bhp, respectively. The 170bhp, 1.3L engine will be reserved for the higher trims, making it the most powerful Duster ever produced.
