Tata Nexon EV Max: Long-Range Variant Teased Ahead Of May 11 Launch

Tata Motors has announced that the soon-to-be-launched long-range Nexon EV will be called the Tata Nexon EV Max. Scheduled to be launched on May 11, 2022, the new Nexon EV Max will come with a bigger battery pack and new features. Select dealers have already started accepting pre-bookings for the new model.

The new Tata Nexon EV Max will come with a bigger 40kWh battery pack. The outgoing model features a 30.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack with a claimed range of 312km on a single charge. The new long-range model is expected to offer a claimed of around 400km on a single charge. The current model offers a real-world range of around 200km, while the long-range model is likely to offer a range close to 280-300km on a single charge.

Tata Motors will make certain changes to the Nexon’s EV floor plan to accommodate a bigger battery pack. Moreover, the boot space is also expected to be reduced. The electric motor is also likely to offer higher power and torque output.

The new Tata Nexon EV Max is also likely to come with a more powerful 6.6kW AC charger. The current model comes with a 3.3kW AC charger, which takes close to 10 hours to fully charge the battery. The 6.6kW AC charger could be offered as an optional.

The Tata Nexon EV Max is also likely to come with selectable regen modes. This will allow driver to adjust intensity of regenerative braking. Tata Motors is also likely to add more comfort and convenience features to the new long-range Nexon EV. It is expected to get cruise control, ventilated seats, a park mode, an air purifier, electronic stability control (ESC) and others. The new model is likely to come with the rear disc brakes.

The standard Nexon EV is available in the price range of Rs 14.54 lakh to Rs 17.15 lakh. With new features and a bigger battery, the new Nexon EV Max is likely to cost around Rs 3 lakh to 4 lakh more than the standard top-end variant. It is expected to be priced around Rs 20 lakh.
