Tata Motors, Nissan, MG Motors Post Sales Growth: Magnite, Nexon, Hector

We informed you that Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motor India Limited and Toyota have recorded a positive sales growth in January 2021. In this article, we talk about sales growth recorded by Tata Motors, Nissan and MG Motors.

Tata Motors – 94.20% Growth

Tata Motors has recorded a massive sales growth of 94.20% in January 2021. The company sold 26,980 vehicles as compared to 13,893 units in January 2020. The company’s month-on-month sales increased by 14.58%.

Tata Motors popular cars including the Nexon, Tiago and the Altroz are receiving excellent response from buyers. Adding to it, the Harrier has also witnessed positive growth in recent times. Tata has recently introduced the new limited edition Tiago hatchback. The company will soon launch the new Tata Safari and a production version of the HBX micro SUV.

Nissan – 184.7% Growth

Nissan has recorded its highest sales in about 3 years, thanks to the great response for the new Nissan Magnite sub-4 meter SUV. The SUV has received over 30,000 bookings in less than 1 month. The company sold 4,021 units in January 2021, which is 184.7% higher than the 1,413 units sold in January last year.

The Magnite accounted for maximum sales. Nissan will have to work hard to sustain the numbers, as the SUV currently commands a waiting period of over 7-8 months. It is based on the Renault-Nissan alliance’s CMF-A+ modular platform. It is available in 2 engine options – a 72bhp, 1.0-litre 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol and a 99bhp, 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol.

MG Motors – 15% Growth

MG Motors recorded an impressive 15% sales growth in January 2021. The company delivered 3,602 units in January 2021, as against 3,130 units sold in Jan 2020. Due to annual maintenance shutdown of 11 days at the Halol plant in Gujarat, MG Motors’ Month-on-Month sales declined by 10.17%. 

Commenting on the sales growth, Rakesh Sidana, Director Sales, MG Motor India, said, “We have received a good response for the Hector 2021 including the latest addition to the family – Hector Plus 7-seater. Our supply situation is chasing demand with ramp up continuing post the maintenance shutdown and we expect good sales in February and March 2021.”
