Tata Harrier EV, Safari EV Design Patent Images Out – Launch In 2024

We reported earlier that Tata Motors will introduce the Curvv EV in the Q2 or Q3 of this calendar year. Adding to it, the homegrown UV maker will launch the Harrier EV by the end of this year year. Tata Motors had showcased the Harrier EV concept at the Auto Expo 2023. The company had confirmed that the Harrier EV concept will enter the production. It is natural that the Safari SUV will also receive an electric derivative.

In fact, the Harrier EV and the Safari EV have been spotted testing on the Indian roads. What’s interesting that both SUVs design have been patented, which shows the production-spec details of the Harrier EV and the Safari EV. Not just the exterior design, the dashboard layout has also been patented that shares resemblance with the Curvv concept and the new Harrier/Safari ICE.

Tata Safari EV Design Patent

The trademarked images reveal the front and rear design of the Harrier EV and the Safari EV. Both SUVs share the styling cues from the facelifted versions, which were introduced in late 2023. The Harrier EV has an all-new alloy wheels, which appears significantly different from the concept showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. Also visible is the ‘.ev’ moniker on the lower portion of the front door of the Tata Harrier EV design trademark.

The rear appears identical to the ICE version. Both SUVs are likely to share features from the facelifted internal combustion engine (ICE) versions. Also visible is the panoramic sunroof, which is also available in the ICE model. The front design also looks similar to the ICE versions; however, it receive some EV-specific changes. The cabin design patent reveals that the Harrier EV/Safari EV will have a large touchscreen infotainment system and a twin-spoke steering wheel. It has an all-new central tunnel with rotary dials for different driving modes. The SUV also has a touch panel for AC vents and other functions.

The new Tata Harrier EV and Safari EV will be based on Tata Gen 2 architecture, called the Acti.ev. The exact powertrain details are yet to be revealed. We expect the new models could come with FWD layout as standard along with the option of a dual-battery AWD setup. The SUVs are likely to be packed with battery pack of around 60kWh with a range of over 500km on a single charge.

The Tata Harrier EV is scheduled to be launched by the end of 2024, while the Safari EV is most likely to arrive in early next year. The Safari EV will rival the upcoming Mahindra XUV.e8, which is scheduled to be launched by December 2024.
