Tata Motors has introduced its latest electric platform through the Punch EV, scheduled to be available for purchase in the upcoming weeks. Named the Tata Acti.EV, this innovative architecture accommodates various battery packs, including prismatic cells for enhanced long-term capacity and cylindrical cells with superior thermal management capabilities.

Supporting Front-Wheel Drive (FWD), Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD), and All-Wheel Drive (AWD) systems, the Acti.EV platform operates at 400 volts and is compatible with both permanent magnet synchronous motors and induction motors. The expected power output ranges from 80bhp to 230bhp, making it adaptable for the development of high-performance electric vehicles.

The Acti.EV platform boasts both Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) capabilities. Tata has emphasized the platform’s commitment to achieving top safety ratings in crash tests, with a core structure predominantly constructed from Ultra High Strength Steel designed to safeguard the battery in pole and side impact scenarios.

This architecture, notable for its flexibility, facilitates efficient packaging, featuring a flat floor and a frunk (front boot space, as seen in the Punch EV). Its design provides extra ground clearance, ensuring compatibility with diverse Indian road conditions.
