Tata Gravitas Debut On 26th January; To Rival New XUV500

The production-ready Tata Gravitas SUV will finally make its debut on 26th January, 2021. Based on the brand’s Omega platform, the model is likely to be offered with both 6 and 7-seats configurations. The Gravitas, which is essentially the bigger version of the Harrier, will be put up against the upcoming new-generation Mahindra XUV500 and Hyundai Creta 7-seater SUV. The MG Hector Plus 6/7-seater SUV will also take on the upcoming new Tata SUV.

Compared to its younger sibling, the Tata Gravitas is 63mm longer and 80mm taller. That means, the new SUV will measure around 4661mm in length, 1894mm in width and 1,886mm in height. Its wheelbase, however, remains unchanged (i.e. 2741mm). What further distinguish it from the Harrier are its newly-designed alloy wheels, longer rear overhang and a stepped roof.

The SUV might also come in new colour schemes along with shades available on the Harrier model lineup including Orcus White, Telesto Grey, Atlas Green, Majesto Camo Green and Calypso Red. Read – Tata Altroz Turbo Petrol Ready To Hit Roads In January

The Gravitas will come with the three-row arrangement with foldable middle row featuring a one-touch flip and fold function. A few changes will also be made to its interior. The Gravitas will come with grey trim and ivory seat upholstery and door pads. Most of the features will be carried over from the Harrier including a floating touchscreen infotainment system, JBL audio system, a 7-inch instrument panel, voice recognition, climate control system, cruise control and more.

Under the hood, the Tata Gravitas will employ the 170bhp, 2.0L turbocharged diesel engine sourced from the Harrier. The motor can be had with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic transmission. With an additional third seat, the Gravitas will weigh more than the Harrier that will affect its fuel efficiency. The Harrier’s manual and automatic version return a claimed mileage of 16.35kmpl and 14.63kmpl respectively.
