Tata Curvv With Diesel, Petrol Engines Launching This Year

The Tata Curvv concept-based coupe SUV stands as one of the highly anticipated new car launches this year. Tata Motors has officially confirmed that the model will be introduced with an electric powertrain initially, followed by the launch of its Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) version.

Production of the Curvv EV is reported to commence in April, with market launch anticipated in the second half of 2024. Tata’s manufacturing facility in Ranjangaon, near Pune, will serve as the production hub for this upcoming electric coupe SUV.

The Curvv will also mark the debut of Tata’s new 1.2L, 3-cylinder engine, previewed at the previous year’s Auto Expo. This engine delivers a peak power of 125PS at 5,000rpm and 225Nm of torque between 1700rpm and 3500rpm. It can run on petrol and E20 ethanol petrol mix fuel, meeting the BS6 Phase II emission norms.

The new petrol engine boasts an all-aluminum build, incorporating advanced combustion systems and high-pressure direct injection technology. Transmission duties are expected to be handled by a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox along with a manual unit.

Tata Curvv EV Range

On the electric front, the Curvv EV is anticipated to offer a range of over 500km. The electric coupe SUV will be based on Tata’s new Acti.ev platform, recently introduced with the Punch EV. This versatile architecture supports multiple body styles and powertrains, accommodating larger battery packs, AWD (all-wheel drive) systems, and dual-motor setups.
