Creta-Sized BYD Atto 2 Electric SUV Unveiled – Details Inside

Chinese car manufacturer, BYD is all set to introduce an all-new BYD Atto 2, a small electric SUV in the home market. This small e-SUV has been revealed in Chinese homologation filings ahead of its launch towards the end of this year. The Atto 2 electric SUV will rival the Jeep Avenger and the Hyundai Kona EV in the global markets.

The BYD Atto 2 will be sold as the Yuan Up in China, as the Atto 3 is named Yuan Plus. Featuring front-wheel-drive layout, the new electric SUV is based on BYD’s new third-generation electric car platform – called the e-Platform 3.0. It will slot between the Dolphin hatchback and the Atto 3 crossover.

BYD Atto 2 Specs

Not just China, the BYD Atto 2 electric SUV will also go on sale in the European markets by 2025. The electric SUV will be offered in both left- and right-hand-drive form. The company is also increasing its footprints in the fast growing Indian auto market. We believe that the BYD Atto 2 could be introduced in our market as well. This segment will witness the arrival of 5 new electric SUVs including the Maruti Suzuki eVX, Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv, Honda Elevate and the Toyota Urban SUV.

According to the leaked info, the new Atto 2 will measure 4310mm in length, 1830mm in width and 1675mm in height. This makes it around 140mm smaller than the Atto 3. The report published by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology also reveals that the Atto 2 will come with a front-mounted electric motor with either 94bhp or 174bhp – which is identical to the BYD Dolphin hatchback.

BYD Atto 2 Range

The electric SUV will be powered by the Chinese carmaker’s lithium-iron-phosphate Blade battery. It could either get a 32kWh or 45.1kWh battery packs offering a range of up to 300km and 400km, respectively. The new BYD model will have a kerb weight of around 1430kg and 1540kg, depending on the electric motor and battery specification.
