Tata Altroz EV Launch Timeline Officially Confirmed – What to Expect?

Having first graced our vision as a concept marvel at the Delhi Auto Expo in 2020, the Tata Altroz EV left enthusiasts eagerly awaiting news of its impending launch. After a prolonged silence, Tata Motors has officially confirmed that the production-ready iteration of the Altroz EV will make its debut in 2025, with expectations leaning towards the latter half of the year.

While specific details on the electric hatchback remain under the wraps, anticipations are high that it will maintain fidelity to its initial concept. Mirroring the conceptual design, the production-ready Altroz EV will feature a closed-off grille complemented by integrated DRLs, contemporary headlamp aesthetics, a front air dam adorned with star patterns, refreshed front and rear bumpers, and a set of new alloy wheels. The rear section will sport a blacked-out segment on the tailgate.

While comprehensive powertrain specifications for the Altroz EV are currently undisclosed, it is confirmed that Tata’s Ziptron technology will be at its heart. A permanent magnet AC motor will drive the front wheels through a single-speed gearbox. Empowered by a lithium-ion battery pack, the Altroz EV is poised to achieve an impressive range between 250km to 300km, with a swift charging time of approximately 60 minutes (up to 80 percent) using DC fast charging.

Persistent rumors suggest that the Altroz EV may share its powertrain with the Nexon EV, a sibling in the Tata electric vehicle lineup. The Nexon EV offers two battery pack options: 30kWh (Medium Range) and 40.5kWh (Long Range). The former delivers 129bhp with 215Nm of torque, while the latter boasts an even more robust performance, generating 142bhp and 215Nm of torque.
