Renault Duster 7-Seater (Bigster) SUV Debut By End of 2024

Renault, as part of its ‘Renaulution India 2024‘ initiative, has unveiled its product launch plan, which includes B and C segment SUVs, a localized EV, and new-generation Kiger and Triber models. While specific details about the upcoming B and C segment SUVs remain undisclosed, it is speculated that these models will include the new-generation Renault Duster with 5 and 7-seater configurations. The design inspiration for the new model is expected to be drawn from the Dacia Bigster concept, previewed in 2021.

A recent media report suggests that the Dacia Bigster SUV is slated to have its world premiere in its production avatar by the end of 2024. Measuring around 4.60 meters in length, the SUV will feature a three-row arrangement, providing ample space to accommodate seven passengers. In comparison to the 5-seater variant, the Renault Duster 7-seater (Dacia Bigster) will be 300mm longer. The report also mentions that the Bigster SUV’s passenger compartment will incorporate “environmentally friendly materials,” and its protective elements against external scratches will be made of recycled plastic.

Built on the CMF-B platform, the Dacia Bigster will offer both internal combustion engine (ICE) and hybrid powertrain options. Reports indicate the possibility of the SUV being equipped with the strong hybrid tech known as the Hybrid 140, featuring a 94bhp, 1.6L petrol engine, a 1.2kWh battery pack, a 49bhp electric motor, and a starter generator. Additionally, a 1.2L turbo petrol engine with a 48V mild hybrid system and TCe 130 motor might be offered. The SUV is expected to feature multiple driving modes, along with an optional all-wheel-drive (AWD) drivetrain system.

In the Indian market, the new-generation Renault Duster will initially be available with a 5-seating layout, followed by the introduction of the 7-seater version. While the former will compete with cars like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, and Toyota Hyryder, the latter will go head-to-head against the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari, and Hyundai Alcazar.
