Suzuki Grand Vitara Introduced In Indonesia; No Strong Hybrid

Japanese automaker Suzuki has introduced the made-in-India Grand Vitara midsize SUV at the ongoing Indonesia International Motor Show 2023. The Indonesian-spec Suzuki Grand Vitara looks largely identical to the India-spec model; however, it won’t be offered with a strong hybrid powertrain.

In terms of proportions, the Suzuki Grand Vitara is 4,345 mm in length, 1,795 mm in width and 1,645 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,600mm. It is powered by a 1.5-litre K15C Dual Jet petrol engine with SHVS mild hybrid tech. This engine is capable of producing 103PS of power at 6,000rpm and a peak torque of 136.8Nm at 4,400rpm. A six-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox sending power to front wheels come as standard.

The India-spec model is also available with a Toyota’s 1.5L 3-cylinder petrol engine with self charging battery pack. The combined power and torque output stands at 115bhp and 121Nm of torque. This engine is paired to an e-CVT. It is claimed to offer an ARAI certified fuel economy of 27.97kmpl.

The Indonesian-spec Grand Vitara is available in two variants – GX and GL. For safety & security, the SUV gets 6 airbags, ESP, ABS with EBD & Brake Assist, 360 degree camera, rear parking camera with parking sensors, hill hold control and others. It is fitted with a panoramic sunroof, LED projector headlamp with autolight with guide me light, cruise Control, Head Up Display (HUD) and a wireless charging smartphone, and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, etc.

Maruti Grand Vitara CNG India

Maruti Suzuki has recently introduced the CNG powered Grand Vitara in the country. It is available in two variants – Delta MT and Zeta MT – priced at Rs 12.85 lakh and Rs 14.84 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively. It is powered by a 1.5-litre, Dual Jet, Dual VVT engine with a factory-fitted CNG kit. In CNG mode, the engine produces 87.83PS of power at 5,500rpm and a peak torque of 121.5Nm at 4,200rpm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels vi a 5-speed manual gearbox.
