Strom R3 Mini Electric Car Bookings Open At Rs 10,000

Strom Motors had unveiled the Strom R3 entry-level electric car in 2018. The company has now started accepting bookings for the new EV. Interested buyers can pre-book the Strom R3 at a token amount of Rs 10,000. It is reportedly to be priced under Rs 5 lakh, which will make it one of the most affordable EVs in India.

The Strom R3 is a two-door electric car with three wheels, which uses reverse trike configuration with single wheel at the rear and two wheels up front. The electric car is designed and developed for urban cities such as Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. The car has edgy design, featuring muscular front bumper, LED lights, rear spoiler and dual-tone colors with a white roof, and a sunroof.

Dimensionally, the small electric car is 2,907mm in length, 1,405mm in width and 1,572mm in height, and has a ground clearance of 185mm. The EV has a kerb weight of 550kg. It rides on 13-inch steel wheels covered with 155/80 section tyres.

The Strom R3 electric car is expected to be offered with two seating configurations – two captain seats or a single bench seat for 3. The compact EV comes loaded with features like 12-way adjustable driver’s seat, a 4.3-inch digital instrument console, climate control, remote keyless entry, etc. There is a 7-inch vertically stacked touchscreen infotainment system with an IOT-enabled Continuous Monitoring System and 4G connectivity, voice control, gesture control, 20GB onboard music storage and turn-by-turn navigation with voice.

Strom Motors claim that the electric car is designed to offer 400-litres of luggage carrying capacity with 300-litres at the rear and 100-litres at the front. It gets two hydraulic disc brakes at the front and a drum brake at the rear. The company is giving a 3 year/ 1 lakh kilometres warranty with the entry-level EV.

It is powered by an electric motor producing 20bhp and 90Nm of torque, and a lithium-ion battery.  It has regenerative braking and offers 3 driving modes – Eco, Normal and Sports. It is claimed to achieve a top speed of up to 80kmph. The entry-level car is claimed to offer a range of up to 200 km on a single charge. The battery takes 3 hours to fully charge.
