Skoda Octavia, Superb Discontinued – What’s the Future Plan?

The new BS6 Phase II emission regulations came into effect on 1st April 2023. And we have bid a farewell to several popular cars including Maruti Suzuki Alto 800, Hyundai i20 diesel, Mahindra KUV100 NXT, Toyota Innova Crysta petrol, fourth-generation Honda City, Honda Jazz, Honda WR-V, Renault Kwid and Nissan Kicks. There are two more victims from Skoda – the Octavia and Superb. Both models have been delisted from the company’s official website.

Skoda Octavia was one of the favourite machines among auto enthusiasts. The sedan was always admired for its performance, handling and never-aging looks. It was offered in a single 2.0L, 4-cylinder TSI turbo petrol engine delivering power worth 190bhp and 320Nm of torque. The motor is paired to a 7-speedd dual-clutch automatic gearbox with a shift-by-wire selector. The sedan’s top-end L&K trim was packed with features such as a 12-speaker Canton sound system, connected car tech, dual zone climate control, electrically adjustable driver and passenger seats with memory functions, 8 airbags, ESC, ABS with EBD, and many more.

2021 Skoda Superb

The Skoda Superb, on the other hand, redefined sophistication, comfort and performance in the luxury sedan segment. It was the brand’s flagship sedan in India that was first introduced in 2004. The Superb was powered by a 2.0L turbo petrol engine that was good enough for 190bhp. Transmission duties were performed by a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. It had features like an 8,0-inch Amundsen touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity, a 360 degree camera, a hands-free parking function, etc.

Skoda India’s Future Plan

The Czech automaker has planned multiple new sedans and SUVs for the Indian market. The company is performing a feasibility study for the new-generation Skoda Superb in the country. Skoda India might also introduce the Skoda Octaiva RS, but nothing has been finalized on it. There will be several special editions of the existing Skoda cars along with the Skoda Enyaq electric SUV. The latter will come by the end of this fiscal year.
